THE RIVER RUNS RED (Jess Williams, #7) by Robert J. Thomas

Just goes to show you life in the Old West wasn't a bag of jelly beans or a nice hot cup of Arbuckle Coffee.. One person found this helpful. Well plotted, with enjoyable characters. And the bad guys get the justice and punishment they deserve. I am realy enjoying this series, and I'm always left wondering what adventures will be next for Jess Williams. He's an excellent hero; fast on the draw, honorable, dedicated, and still has a sense of humor. He meets a multitude of interesting characters, some good, some downright evil, and some that are certainly very strange.

I find it very hard to put any of these books down, before it's finished.

THE RIVER RUNS RED

One of Jess' friends is captured and put in jail in Mexico by a crooked Mexican general. His methods, as usual, are inventive and effective. I enjoyed this book, and I think you will, too. The Jess Williams series is addictive; Sort of like potato chips, but the books are non-fat and 0 calories. I managed to muscle my way through the first in this series. It was hard as it went on. More and more it was all about how fast Jess was, how cold he had become, and how many men he killed.

I like westerns, so I finished it just for the hell of it. As far as THIS book goes: I have deleted it from my computer. Horrible amateurish writing at best. It was all kill, kill, kill. Look at me I am the fastest man with a gun who ever lived. On and On and On. That won't be happening. This story could have been so much better. I will admit that I enjoyed the premise and the opening of this series By the fourth book, the main character started to become very obviously a Mary Sue. His showdown in the Mexican saloon was sort of the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

The character started out interesting, and indeed the supporting cast remains very interesting I don't believe I will be reading any more of these novels from here on out, because honestly reading the next one is virtually indistinguishable from reading the last one any more The main character has two motivations only: The possibilities for stories peter out pretty quickly with a character that two-dimensional.

One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful. Jess helps a friend escape from a Mexico military prison. In doing so, he kills many soldiers. He kills horses too. Also, he kills men for bounty money. He kills those who challenge his fast-draw reputation. He drinks fine whiskey and eats huge amounts of food. In other words, this book is similar to all the other Jess Williams books in the series.

Predictable but entertaining nonetheless. A Jessica Williams Western Book 7. Jess Williams is a bounty hunter. A really successful one, due to the fact he is very fast on the draw and carries many guns. He is however an extremely honest and fair man, so he is supported by most lawmen.

Then again like every occupation there are always a few bad guys in the bunch. This is a long series Jess Williams enters the saloon. Spot some shady characters. If they're from New York City he tries to talk them out of it. Being stupid they don't understand and end up dead. If they have a bounty on their heads he goads them into a draw. These books should be back to the publisher who should fire the editor working on it as the spelling and grammatical errors will make a primary scholar cringe.

This is the fifth or sixth book about Jess that I have read. The first few were good, but then they began to be cookie-cutter books. Jess vs two or three men at a time in each book. I recommend trying a few because they were good. When, or if, you feel they are getting too similar, you can always give them a rest. See all 85 reviews. Most recent customer reviews.
