The Reliance Group is a very discreet and covert group that took assignments that other agencies refused to take. But Nathan's next job hits a little close to home: But before he goes undercover to find the runaway teen, Nathan goes to a speed dating event as a favor for a friend.
Just as Nathan is thinking his night can't be any worse, he sees Nicole Hutton. Nicole is at the speed dating event to write an article for her paper. Nicole is growing restless with these "puff" pieces her editor keeps giving her. She wants to write about things that matter. After coming across Nate's TRG information, she decides to do a little undercover work herself into the missing teen. And when Nate discovers that the man they are after has set his sights on Nicole, he will do anything to protect the woman that has wormed his way into the one place he didn't think would happen again: This might sound weird, but the book managed to be light hearted and heavy at the same time.
The bad guy in this book is taking advantage of underage girls who have run away from their homes. He uses drugs and other methods to keep them on his side. This time I wasn't just reading the book. Things were lighter and not filled with action from page one. That's not a bad thing. The characters had some time to get to know each other and start to fall in love instead of running for their lives. What I didn't like was Nicole at certain times.
I wasn't able to bond with her and I thought she deserved a slap for the way she was thinking sometimes. She is feisty though. Nathan was a good hero. He is not acting like a crazy alpha male. He has his reasoning for not letting Nicole getting into trouble. You will get more on that, once you read the book. In two instances I could tell that the book was published a lot of years before Who doesn't know what speed dating is? There is no way a person wouldn't know what speed dating is.
And second who says my laptop computer these days? Certainly not me or any of the people I know. We just say laptop. I know I am nitpicking but these two lines struck out on me. The book was good and I finished reading it sooner than I expected. I couldn't put it down. Erika's characters are so real.get link

Erika Wilde has intricately woven a tale of two people who go undercover to rescue a 16 year old girl from a rich and powerful pedophile in Las Vegas. This book may have triggers for some. It was previously released before but has now been updated and greatly rewritten and at a much longer length. I feel as though this has taken Erika Wilde's writing to a whole new dimension. I enjoyed the book greatly.
May 03, Princess Thuy rated it it was amazing. Talk about an edge of your seat, action packed story that I could not put down. I think I would classify this story as a dark romantic suspense. My heart definitely got a work out reading Game of Chance. This story was very suspenseful and it was kind of dark in that the subject matter of the case Nathan is involved in is unpleasant and would probably make every reader really despise the villain in the story. But in between this crazy suspenseful action, there's the love story between Natha Omg!
But in between this crazy suspenseful action, there's the love story between Nathan and Nicole. Their individual pasts were pretty emotional and really got to me. But I loved the way their relationship developed. Their meeting was cute. Their chemistry was smoking hot which translated to some really good sexy moments. Nicole was a bit stubborn at times but it worked for the story. Nathan was just yummy and really wonderful. They made a really good team in and out of the bedroom. Now that my heart rate is back to normal, I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I loved that this book was a little on the darker side, sensitively dealing with a subject that will, at times, turn your stomach and make you wish you could strip and pour honey all over two particular characters and leave them out in the Nevada dessert, tied-up, staked spread eagle, awaiting their well-deserved fate!! Thank you Ms Wilde I can't WAIT for book 2! Jun 16, Phuong rated it it was amazing. This is the first book in the Vegas Trilogy and I can't wait for the other 2 books to come out!

It has all the makings of a great book with great writing, well developed characters, and a believable and interesting storyline. The instant connection and subsequent chemistry between Nathan and Nicole was hot and steamy. I did find some parts a little harder to read than others due to subject matter, but it was very well written.

He is also connected to powerful people and never pays the price for his illegal activities. The two main characters are my favorite type of characters. Nathan Fox is a former Marine turned Vegas vice cop, turned Casino security expert with a side job in a covert undercover team. He hopes that saving this new runaway will be his redemption from a failed operation he had as a vice cop. Nicole Hutton is a journalist who wants an opportunity to work on a cutting-edge news story. Unfortunately, her current assignment is to research a speed dating article and other fluff pieces.
While on her speed dating appointment she runs into Nathan who is filling in for a friend. They hit it off in their seven-minute date because they are both honest about their desire to be anywhere but speed dating. Is this her big break? It moves at a perfect pace to keep the reader on edge waiting for the worst and hoping for the best. I love books with villains that are truly bad guys. The situation Nathan and Nicole are investigating is plausible, and the sleazy lifestyle accurately portrayed. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
There is the perfect mix of suspense, romance, and drama. Both main characters are working to recover from past mistakes and regrets. Nathan finds himself in a position that he might have to save Nicole, a woman he has grown to love. Will this operation be his biggest failure or his greatest success? It hits all my favorite buttons: Jun 21, Suzanne Radcliffe rated it it was amazing.
Nathan is a former marine, a former Vegas vice cop, and is now head of security for the Onyx Casino. He is also part of the The Reliance Group, a covert team hired to take on cases other agencies can't touch. His latest assignment with TRG is to find a runaway his boss fears is in imminent danger. That danger is a horrible "man" who is a pedophile that has a predilection for young teen girls. Nathan takes the assignment, even though it hits him hard and is so similar to something that happened in his past. While the team is prepping his new ID, one of the team asks a favor of him.
Valerie needs Nathan to fill in on a speed dating event where someone backed out. I mean, what's a few hours for a favor, right? I won't read another by her. August 2, - Published on Amazon. Lead female is 30, gorgeous but doesn't know it. She has been twisted by the Church and is still haunted by a particularly vicious Nun. The scene where the lead male spikes her water with doggie downers made me decide to quit reading this story. I did not find the dialogue to be informative or entertaining. No desire to finish this story.
Remember this is my personal opinion and does not reflect on the author. October 22, - Published on Amazon. Wilde's Gamble is a wonderful romantic comedy with engaging characters, witty dialogue and enough tension to keep you flipping pages late into the night. My favorite scene is when Dominique, an accounts payable clerk trying to spice up her dull existence, first meets T. Wilde, a cool, good-looking guy with a past. The interplay between them as they repeatedly misunderstand each other, is fun, sexy and hilarious. It sets the tone for their subsequent adventure and the development of their relationship.
Rebecca Forster hits the mark again with her vivid descriptions and fully developed characters; especially a couple of side-kicks who will keep you smiling all the way to the last page.

I do have favorites but enjoy them all. October 26, - Published on Amazon. Lora is just what he needs too! I also loved the side story of Daniel and Sydney. My only complaint with this series is that the author tends to confuse her characters. It's as simple as calling one character by another character's name. It happens in at least 2 of the books.
And it should have been something that was caught in editing. Otherwise, I am really enjoying the series. Joel and Sydney are so alike, I'm so glad Lora and Daniel gave them time. But in the light of day the truth comes out. Her brother, Zach, has put her life at risk with his gambling addiction. Joel has vowed to protect her until the threat has passed then he will walk away and he does just that. A seconday love story to Joel and Lora revolves around Sydne and Daniel. Sassy Sydney has has decidely checkered past.
An unwed mother at 14, betrayed by the teenage father and forced to life in a foster group home until she ages out, has left Sydney cynical and hard bitten. She is now the one in control, using sex as a weapon and to her advantage. Enter Daniel, her teen daughter's high school math teacher. After a parent-teacher meeting Daniel asks her out on a date.
Shevturns him down but his persistence wears her down. Thinking she'll at least get a good night of sex, she finally agrees to the date. Much to her surprise he turns her down when she comes on to him and he keeps doing so tell her he wants more. He finally walks away when she says she can't be what he wants and is miserable afterwards. Fortunately all concerned get their HEAs.
Good story with very likeable characters. I've read this book years ago before I started reviewing my reads so I decided I wanted to reread this story and write a review this time but first let me tell you what I loved most about this story. There are two love stories in this book. The main love story is between Joel Wilde and Lora Marshall. Joel was asked to protect Lora from her brother's loan shark who is after her to collect on her brother's debt. The chemistry between Joel and Lora is hot and poor Joel is trying to keep everything I've read this book years ago before I started reviewing my reads so I decided I wanted to reread this story and write a review this time but first let me tell you what I loved most about this story.
The chemistry between Joel and Lora is hot and poor Joel is trying to keep everything professional but he just can't fight the feelings he develops for Lora, even though he tries really hard to deny it. The secondary love story is between Lora's best friend, Sydney and Daniel. Sydney has major trust issues with men and Daniel just wants to love her.
Reading about their relationship while reading about Joel and Lora's was just icing on the cake for me. A little bit of action, some fun flirty moments as well as very sexy times, and lots of heart and emotions made this a really great story. I'm glad I went back and reread this story to show me why I fell in love with Janelle Denison's work way back when and why I now love her stories written as Erika Wilde as well.
Apr 02, Kelly rated it it was ok Shelves: Though it was an okay afternoon read, it lacked depth and tension, and I am fairly sure that I won't remember it in a few weeks. I just did not like the leading couple, they were flat, lacking depth and personality outside of their relationship. For example, I wanted to know more about them as people to ge 'Born to be Wilde' promised a bad boy on the cover, and hinted at an 'illicit' oh-we-shouldn't type of relationship between Lora and Joel, but I didn't feel like it delivered on either aspect.
For example, I wanted to know more about them as people to get a feel for them outside of the relationship. Lora mentioned buying her own spa but only in passing and never enough for the reader to pick up on any real passion or enthusiasm. There was no emotional value to that money. That she would get angry and cause a rift when she found out about Joel's role in her life, but no. To be honest, their whole relationship was easy sailing because they had no strong opinions or emotions. Likewise, we knew that Joel was part of the team and security firm, but nothing else.
No hobbies or past-times. Nothing outside of that one job and Lora. Sydney and Daniel were by far the more interesting couple, they were vibrant with clear histories and personalities. They had hang-ups that tore them apart and caused drama, familial problems that caused drama It was an okay afternoon read, but it lacked tension and drama and vibrancy. Jan 08, Gloriamarie rated it it was ok. I was so extraordinarily disappointed in the author.
I have read many a book by Janelle Denison and she has always been literate. I could not believe the number of typos, spelling errors, incorrect homonyms etc. Looks to me like an unedited first draft was shoved into print. I don't think the author ev en proof read her own story. In one paragraph his button fly jeans are being unbuttoned and 2 paragraphs later he is zipping up his jeans.
My father was a compulsive gambler and some parts of this I was so extraordinarily disappointed in the author. My father was a compulsive gambler and some parts of this story were hard for me to read.
